According to The Athletic, Aston Villa have no intention of letting Danny Ings leave the club this summer.
This comes just weeks after 90Min reported that the Midlands club were open to offers for the England striker.
To be honest, it always seemed rather farfetched to believe that Villa would let Ings go just one year after shelling out £25m to sign him from Southampton.
Yes, the former Liverpool striker didn’t have the best of debut seasons at Villa Park, netting just seven Premier League goals, but he still led the charts for Villa in terms of goal contributions last term, and, as he showed at Southampton, when he gets chances, he’ll score goals.
Last season was a slog for many a Villa player. Their slow start saw Dean Smith sacked, and while Steven Gerrard improved the side considerably, there remains a feeling that the best is still yet to come from this side after a whole host of new signings that haven’t fully settled yet.
If the likes of Emi Buendia, Jacob Ramsey and Philippe Coutinho consistently find their best form next season, chances should be frequent for Ings, and as every Premier League fan should know by now, if Ings has a sight of goal, he’ll make you pay.
Villa don’t have any plans to sell Ings, and there’s reason to believe that he’ll be back amongst the goals more often next season.
