Rangers defender Lee Wallace may depart Ibrox this week.

According to the Daily Mail, clubs in England and Scotland are monitoring the situation of Rangers left back Lee Wallace ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

The Gers played out a 3-3 draw with Motherwell earlier today, with Peter Hartley rescuing a point for the hosts with a last-gasp equaliser at Fir Park.

Just seconds before Hartley scored, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard decided to bring on defender Lee Wallace in an attempt to secure the win, but that plan somewhat backfired.

That was somewhat notable for Gerrard; on Thursday, he brought Wallace in from the cold to take a substitute role against Ufa, and has now made his first appearance since the 15th of September.

The 31-year-old has been caught in controversy having been involved in a bust-up with then-caretaker boss Graeme Murty, and he is still waiting for the outcome of Rangers’ investigation about the matter.

Many expected Wallace to move on this summer, but his shock recall under Gerrard has resulted in some believing that the former Hearts man could yet earn a role again with Rangers.

Now, the Daily Mail report that clubs in England and Scotland remain keen on Wallace, and are closely monitoring his situation ahead of the transfer deadline around Europe on Friday.

English clubs can snap up Wallace on loan with a view to a permanent move, and it promises to be a crucial week for the left back’s future at Ibrox as clubs seemingly look to get him out of Rangers in the coming days despite his recall.
