Dele Alli wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur in January now, the Daily Mail report.

Alli to exit?

There were reports in both the Athletic and the Telegraph that Tottenham were prepared to sanction Alli’s departure next month this morning.

And it seems that this is a move which would be welcomed by Alli himself, according to the latest reports.

The attacking midfielder has badly struggled for game time at Spurs of late, with Conte not picking him in his initial few matches in charge.

When the Italian boss took over he claimed Alli was a player with ‘great potential’ but it seems that he has decided that the 25-year-old would cut it for him in North London.

Alli actually began this campaign with an important role to play for Nuno.

Nuno appeared to make reinvigorating Alli one of his first tasks as Spurs boss, but after a run of starts he still couldn’t find form, and was eventually demoted.

The former England international just hasn’t been able to fight his way back into Spurs’ team since.

Best for everyone

In truth it now seems best for all parties if Alli does move on.

The worry is that he may well have peaked in his very early 20’s, as it has now been years since Alli showed the form which once made him one of the best goalscoring midfielders in the league.

The unfortunate matter for Tottenham is that his value has fallen significantly.

Whereas Spurs would once have been commanding huge offers for Alli, the fee that they raise for him now is likely to be significantly reduced.

It also seems unlikely that Alli will move to a club higher placed than Spurs, given his recent struggles for form.
