Allardyce has failed to win any of his last seven matches in charge of Everton.

Sam Allardyce wants more control over recruitment and scouting at Everton, writes Neil Ashton in the Sun newspaper on Friday [page 60].
The report claims the Everton manager has ‘identified a fitness problem’ after seven games without a win – and suggests the behind-the-scenes battle is the biggest he faces at Goodison Park.

It also names Morgan Schneiderlin and Gylfi Sigurdsson, signed for £20 million and £45 million respectively in 2017, as two players who are ‘not meeting’ Allardyce’s midfield demands.
Ashton’s claims come days after the Daily Mirror reported that Everton are in talks with the PSV Eindhoven director of football Marcel Brands about taking up a similar role on Merseyside.

It is claimed that Brands’ arrival could see Steve Walsh – a long-term Allardyce ally – re-assigned to focus on domestic recruits.
Allardyce has only added two players – Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott – to the struggling squad he inherited from Ronald Koeman in December.
