West Bromwich Albion are looking for a new manager.

According to The Express and Star, Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes would welcome an approach to become manager of his former club West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies drew with Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon, and that proved to be Darren Moore’s final game in charge of the club, as he was sacked hours later.

Many have been outraged by the sacking, as West Brom sit fourth in the table in Moore’s first full season as manager, but performances have dipped of late, and West Brom clearly want some momentum heading into the play-offs.

A host of names have already been linked, and The Express and Star claim McInnes would be interested in a move back to The Hawthorns if offered the chance.

McInnes, 47, spent three years with the Baggies as a player, scoring six times in 100 games for the club having joined from Toulouse back in 2000.

Now in charge of Aberdeen, the Scot has impressed at Pittodrie with a 56% win rate, bouncing back from a disappointing spell in charge of Bristol City between 2011 and 2013.

He may not be a particularly glamorous name, but he has flourished as a manager in Scotland, and he would certainly understand West Brom based on his prior stint with the club.

Yet McInnes has blasted West Brom’s decision to sack Moore, branding English football ‘ridiculous’ and ‘unworkable’ in an interview with The Press and Journal, hinting that he wouldn’t exactly want to jump ship – but if offered the chance to re-join his former club, maybe his mind could be changed after all.
