Scottish Premiership powehouses Rangers look set to sign Motherwell winger Jake Hastie despite interest from Championship outfit Derby County.

Derby County are keen to sign the coveted Motherwell winger Jake Hastie though he appears to be closing in on a move to Rangers, according to Sky Sports.

Since returning from a loan spell at Alloa Athletic in January, Hastie has really caught the eye in the Scottish Premiership with five goals for Stephen Robinson’s Motherwell. The 19-year-old idolises Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale and it shows; his hammer of a left foot has left a number of goalkeepers grasping at thin air in the last two months.

And according to Sky, Rangers look set to snap up Hastie on a pre-contract agreement before he becomes a free agent at the end of the season. It is claimed that Steven Gerrard’s side have moved ahead of other interested parties as the winger seemingly nears a move to Ibrox.

This will leave a number of clubs cursing their luck, including Derby County.

The Rams have adopted a new transfer strategy revolving around signing young, promising talents such as Jack Marriott and Duane Holmes, and Hastie, who has five goals in eight league games in 2019, fits the bill.

But it seems that it would take a dramatic U-turn for Derby to beat Rangers to his signature.
