Derby County are keen to sign Darmstadt striker Serdar Dursun with the club’s sporting director Carsten Wehlmann confirming an offer for his in-form forward, while speaking to BILD.
Some of Phillip Cocu’s best teams have been built around a rangy target man.
And the Rams boss will be hoping that, in 6ft 3ins Dursun, he has discovered the player who could become Derby’s answer to PSV hero Luuk de Jong.
The Hamburg-born giant scored 19 times in 36 games for Darmstadt last season and, according to both BILD and Derbyshire Live, he has been lined up for a move to Pride Park before the transfer window slams shut next Monday.
“Yes, there is an offer for Serdar Dursun. I won’t say more about it,” Wehlmann says.
It remains to be seen how highly Darmstadt value one of the hottest forwards in Germany’s second tier but, according to BILD, Derby are only willing to pay in the region of £750,000.

The Rams have lost all four of their games so far in 2020/21, including a 4-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers, which exposed not only some serious defensive flaws but also a lack of invention at the other end of the pitch.
Jack Marriott is the only player to find the net in the Championship this season, while the departure of Chris Martin to Bristol City has robbed Cocu of any kind of a physical presence in the final third.
Dursun, with his height and impressive finishing skills, could be the man to replace Martin in attack.
