The Derby County manager is said to be Stoke City’s number one target to replace Paul Lambert.

Derby County fear that Stoke City could take Scott Carson as well as Gary Rowett, according to the Daily Mirror.
The report claims Derby are braced for an approach for Rowett, the manager who led them to the Championship play-offs this season.
However, other publications, including the Daily Telegraph, claim that talks between Stoke and Derby are already underway.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Rams are prepared to part with Rowett, assuming his ‘hefty compensation clause’, said to be worth more than £2.2 million, is met.
And it is claimed the 44-year-old is attracted to the Stoke vacancy, where he would be ‘armed with parachute payments of around £40 million.

Further funds are expected to be raised through player sales, with Jack Butland, the Potters goalkeeper once loaned to Derby, among those being tipped to move on.
And that could spark Potters interest in Carson, one of the Rams’ standout performers en route to the top six.
Derby may have to sell to buy themselves this summer, after Mel Morris, the club’s owner, vowed not to make any ‘significant investments’.
