Newcastle United had been looking to sell Grant Hanley to Derby County.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Derby County’s impending move for Curtis Davies means that they will pull out of the race for Newcastle United’s Grant Hanley.
Derby had been interested in signing Hanley for £4 million from Newcastle.
However, Gary Rowett has decided that Davies represents far greater value for money.

Derby have moved to sign Davies from Hull City for just £500,000, in a transfer which looks like one of the bargains of the summer.
It could see Newcastle miss out on some funding which would have boosted Rafael Benitez’s spending plans.

Hanley has struggled to make an impression at Newcastle since joining last summer, and is thought to be up for grabs this summer.
Hanley made just 10 Championship appearances for Newcastle over the past campaign.
