Reading are reportedly close to securing a deal for the Derby County hitman.

The Scotland international has really struggled for goals at Derby this term, but he has not really been given many chances by Gary Rowett, having made just five Championship starts all season long.

Jaap Stam has made no secret of his desire to bolster his attacking ranks at the Madejski Stadium before the transfer window slams shut, with his side having scored just 33 goals in the 29 Championship games they have played thus far.
And it looks as if the Dutchman is inching ever closer to securing one of his key targets.

The Daily Telegraph report that the 29-year-old is all set for a medical at Reading later this afternoon, with a proposed season-long loan deal on the table.
The Royals have endured a miserable Championship campaign thus far, and currently sit in 18th spot in the table, but whether or not Martin is the man to help fire them up the table remains to be seen.
