The Rams have been linked with a move for Bristol City striker Jonathan Kodjia.
Bristol City’s Jonathan Kodjia
Bristol City will resist any attempt from Championship rivals Derby County to sign last season’s top scorer Jonathan Kodjia – unless they receive an offer too good to refuse, according to the Bristol Post.
The Rams were initially linked with the Frenchman last month (the Sun) and City are said to be bracing themselves for a bid.
However, the Post reports that Robins owner Steve Lansdown will look to rebuff any approach play-off semi-finalists’ approach, unless it’s ‘a multi-million-pound offer that would be hard to turn down.’
Jonathan Kodjia celebrates another of his 20 goals for City
Kodjia, who was Ligue 2’s player of the year in 2014-15 – prompting his £2.1 million switch to Ashton Gate, scored 20 goals in his first season on English soil.
And the Ivorian’s tally was five more than his Derby counterpart Chris Martin.
Derby’s Chris Martin right scored five fewer goals than Kodjia last season
But according to the Post, City boss Lee Johnson believes he can coax even more goals out of Kodjia next season, having only worked with the rangy front man since February.
Johnson is reportedly close to re-signing last season’s loan star Lee Tomlin on a permanent basis (Post), along with freed Sheffield United forward Diego De Girolamo (Post).
