According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Derby County are interested in Burnley winger George Boyd.

Boyd’s contract with Burnley is expected to expire this season, meaning he could be available on a free transfer.

And Gary Rowett is keen to bring the 31-year-old to Pride Park, as he looks to increase the quality of Derby’s squad.

Boyd’s work-rate has earned him a large amount of credit at Burnley, with the Scotland international regularly featuring in the Premier League’s top runners.

And Boyd could fit in well with Rowett’s style, which demands his midfielders are useful in both an attacking and defensive sense.

Aston Villa are also said to be interested in Boyd, with Steve Bruce a fan of the former Peterborough United winger.

Bruce linked up with Boyd at Hull City earlier in their respective careers, and is expected to offer the midfielder a contract at Villa.
