Derby County have knocked back an “ambitious” approach from Huddersfield Town for winger Tom Ince, the Telegraph reports.

The Sun reported earlier this week that Huddersfield – who are said to be chasing a permanent deal for former loan star Isaiah Brown – were hoping to sign Ince on an initial season-long loan deal.

However, it appears the Terriers’ bid has not been successful, despite Derby’s alleged openness towards allowing their high-earning stars to move on.

Ince is said to take home £30,000 a week at Pride Park, an amount which the Sun reported would have been covered by Huddersfield ahead of a full-time transfer should the Yorkshire side survive relegation next season.

However, it appears the Rams will only facilitate a permanent deal for the 25-year-old, who top scored with 15 goals for Gary Rowett’s side this past campaign.

Bookmakers Bet Victor have installed Derby’s league rivals Fulham as 5/1 favourites to sign Ince, ahead of Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea City and Newcastle United [all 6/1].
