Derby County were reportedly set to sign the Everton defender on loan.

Derby County agreed a deal in principle to sign Everton defender Brendan Galloway on loan, according to the Liverpool Echo.

However, it is claimed that Galloway’s loan current club, West Bromwich Albion, are refusing to sanction the 20-year-old’s return to Goodison Park, thus preventing the Rams from adding him to their ranks this month.

Galloway arrived at The Hawthorns on a season-long deal in August, but has made just three Premier League outings so far – and hasn’t featured in the competition since the following month’s win against West Ham United.

West Brom are believed to be eyeing a new left-back this month, with the Guardian reporting the Baggies have seen a £7 million rejected by Leeds United for Charlie Taylor.

However, with no new arrival on the horizon in Galloway’s position, the Black Country club’s preference to keep hold of the England Under-21 international is somewhat understandable, despite Everton’s obvious objection.

Derby are one of several Championship sides, as well as Premier League Crystal Palace, to be linked with a move for Fleetwood Town’s Amari’i Bell by the Daily Mirror.

The 22-year-old has 18 months left on his deal and may be seen as an alternative to Galloway by Steve McClaren’s side.
