Derby County’s rivals Sheffield United were quoted £4 million by Blackburn Rovers a year ago.

Derby County are checking on Blackburn Rovers defender Darragh Lenihan, according to the Sun on Sunday (April 8th, page 61).
The report claims Blackburn quoted Sheffield United £4 million plus extras for Lenihan a year ago, and will still be seeking a ‘big sum’.
That is despite the 24-year-old having only played eight times this season due to metatarsal and spinal injuries.

Nevertheless, Lenihan is still said to have ‘caught the eye’ of Derby, who have revived their promotion push with back-to-back wins this week.
Derby – who boast the Championship’s third tightest defence with only 38 goals conceded in 40 games so far – are not short of options in Lenihan’s position, with Curtis Davies, Richard Keogh, Alex Pearce, Andre Wisdom and Chris Baird all capable of playing there.

Baird, however, is out of contract at the end of the campaign.
Dubliner Lenihan has made 82 appearances since signing for Blackburn from Belvedere FC seven years ago, the bulk of which have arrived a Championship level.
