Derby County and Swansea City are keen to re-sign Tom Carroll.
Tottenham’s Tom Carroll looks dejected
According to The Mirror, Derby County are in a battle with Swansea City as both teams look to re-sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Carroll.
The Rams have been quiet in the summer transfer window, with new manager Nigel Pearson so far failing to bring in any new signings – and just five days away from the transfer deadline, fans are hoping to see some activity.
Tom Carroll in action for Derby County
After scoring just one league goal in four games, Derby need some reinforcements, and a former loan midfielder is being linked with a possible return to the iPro Stadium.
The Mirror report that Derby are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Carroll, who may be allowed to leave White Hart Lane before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

Carroll, 24, has come up through the ranks with Spurs and made 27 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring three goals as he had to settle for a backup role behind Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele in Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield.
Now, with Victor Wanyama signed from Southampton, Carroll has slipped down the pecking order, and could be on his way out of the club with Tottenham believed to be open to offers for the player.
Derby are now allegedly keen to bring Carroll back to the club after he enjoyed a loan spell with the Rams in 2012, playing 12 games for the club before heading back to Tottenham.

However, another of Carroll’s former clubs are keen to land him, as Swansea City – where the diminutive midfielder made 18 appearances during the 2014/15 season – are also believed to be in the race for his signature.
It remains to be seen whether either side make a concrete move for Carroll, but he may well have to choose between Premier League football and dropping down into the Championship.
