Derby County and Wigan Athletic are interested in signing Aberdeen star Graeme Shinnie in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 61, April 7, 2019).

Shinnie is out of contract at Scottish club Aberdeen at the end of the season, and Derby and Wigan in the Championship in England reportedly want to secure the services of the 27-year-old on a free transfer in the summer of 2019.

Good signing for Derby County or Wigan Athletic?

Shinnie is one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership and can operate as a left-back or as a central midfielder.

The Scotland international has been playing his professional club football career in his native country so far, but he does have the quality to be a success in the second tier of English football.

Graeme Shinnie of Aberdeen strikes on goal during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Aberdeen and Motherwell at Pittodrie Stadium on April 3, 2019 in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Derby are a bigger club than Wigan, and with Chelsea legend Frank Lampard in charge of the Rams, they will be more attractive than the Latics to Shinnie.

According to WhoScored, the former Inverness Caledonian Thistle star has made 33 appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Aberdeen so far this season, scoring three goals in the process.
