Derby County and Sheffield United are among several Football League sides to have scouted Solihull Moors striker Oladapo Afolayan, according to the Daily Star.

Afolayan has scored four goals in seven stars since joining the National League side on a part-time basis from Loughborough University, where he is said to have two years left of an engineering degree.

A number of clubs have reportedly been to watch the 19-year-old in action – notably, Premier League duo Swansea and Leicester.

According to the Daily Star, however, interest is especially rife from outside the top flight, with Derby, Sheffield United, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and Barnsley also taking a look at Afolayan.

Afolayan was reportedly on Chelsea’s books until the age of 14, before moving to Toronto to ‘widen his football education’.

Sheffield United have taken Che Adams [now Birmingham] and Kieran Wallace from non-league in recent years, while Derby are said to have shown interest in Macclesfield’s Danny Rowe during the January transfer window.

Afolayan will hope to follow in the footsteps of Wigan striker Omar Bogle, who made his name at Solihull before moving to Grimsby in 2015.

Should Derby County/Sheffield United/Birmingham City/Blackburn Rovers/Barnsley take a punt on Afolayan?
