Rangers reportedly face a fight to bring George Edmundson to Ibrox.

According to The Scottish Daily Mail (back page, 15/05), Derby County have joined Rangers in the race for Oldham Athletic defender George Edmundson.
Edmundson, 21, has come up through the Oldham ranks, and has been a regular this season with more than 50 appearances to his name.
A big and powerful centre back at 6ft 3in tall, Edmundson has been tipped for a bright future, and it looks likely that he’ll be leaving Boundary Park this summer.
The Scottish Sun claimed on Monday that Edmundson has already been given a tour of Rangers’ facilities, with Steven Gerrard keen on a £450,000 swoop for the defender.
However, the back page of today’s Scottish Daily Mail suggests that Derby County are in the race too, meaning Gerrard may be forced to battle ex-England teammate Frank Lampard.
Just like Rangers are looking to land Edmundson to replace loanee Joe Worrall, it seems that Derby want the youngster given that Fikayo Tomori is heading back to Chelsea.

Lampard has already been linked with ruining Gerrard’s defensive transfer plans, with TEAMtalk suggesting that he wants to beat Rangers to Hearts ace John Souttar.
With Edmundson now seemingly on Derby’s radar as a cheaper alternative, Gerrard will be sick of hearing about Lampard trying to beat him to targets – but that alleged training ground visit is a big step towards a deal.
