According to The Telegraph, Everton have opened talks over a deal to sign Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez, in a move which could cost £15m.
The Toffees have been boosted by Romelu Lukaku’s intentions to stay at Goodison Park, but manager Ronald Koeman certainly needs to bring in another striking option.
Oumar Niasse has been a sensational failure since signing from Lokomotiv Moscow in January, and could leave the club before next week’s transfer deadline, whilst Arouna Kone has done little to suggest he can be a regular goalscorer in the Premier League.
Now, The Telegraph report that Everton are making a move for a new striker, with talks opened over a £15m deal to sign Deportivo La Coruna hero Lucas Perez.
Perez, 27, had a fairly unspectacular career before the start of last season, having played for the likes of Rayo Vallecano, Karpaty Lviv, Dynamo Kiev and PAOK without a great deal of success.
Yet, last season, Perez became a star with Deportivo La Coruna, smashing 17 goals in all competitions, whilst notching eight assists as well as he fired Depor to La Liga survival.

Perez is unsurprisingly in demand after such as superb campaign, and Everton are making their move given that Director of Football Steve Walsh is a long-term admirer of the player, and wanted to sign him for former club Leicester City.
Toffees fans may be concerned about spending so much money on a player who has only really had one good season at the top level, but Perez is a smart player who can create chances, link up play, and most importantly find the back of the net when given the opportunities.
