The deal taking Jermain Defoe from Bournemouth from Sunderland is imminent.
It looks as if Jermain Defoe’s time as a Sunderland player is quickly coming to an end as he prepares to see the clause in his contract allowing him to leave for free activated.
Sky Sports reports that a deal taking him to AFC Bournemouth will be completed by this weekend, with Defoe ending a two-and-a-half year spell at the Stadium of Light.

The 34-year-old is said to be on the verge of signing a three-year contract at the Vitality Stadium worth £65,000-a-week.
Defoe will join the Cherries on a free transfer despite still having two years left to run on his current deal with the Black Cats, because of a clause stating he could leave for free after they were relegated in 2016/17.
The move is going through despite the Daily Star claiming Bournemouth were reconsidering because of the striker’s hefty wage demands.
However, that report said Defoe was looking for £80,000-a-week, so either that has been negotiated down or the newspaper have their figures wrong.
The forward will be rejoining the club that he spent a season on loan with back in 2000/01 when he was a West Ham United player.
