Shamrock Rovers left-back Trevor Clarke is being watched by scouts from Southampton and Sheffield United, according to the Irish Sun.
The 19-year-old, formerly a winger on Middlesbrough’s books, has impressed since returning to his native Ireland last season.
36 games and one positional change later, Clarke is already being backed as a future international by manager Stephen Bradley, and both Southampton and Sheffield United are seemingly keen to see what all the fuss is about.
The Irish Sun reports that Clarke will again be checked on as Shamrock host Dundalk at the Tallaght Stadium on Friday.
Should the pair like what they see, then a summer move back across the Irish Sea could be on the cards for the Dublin-born teen, whose contract is said to expire at the end of 2017.
Premier League Southampton are renowned for their development of young talent, although Clarke could find first team football more readily available at Sheffield United, who recently clinched a return to the Championship.
The Sun reported in April that Saints’ defender Jason McCarthy is another summer target for Blades boss Chris Wilder.
