West Ham United have so far been unable to agree a new contract with Declan Rice, but he is keen to stay put it seems.

Rice’s contract situation has become a major talking point again after a couple of superb performances from the teenager, who has shone in a midfield role against both Everton and Chelsea to help Manuel Pellegrini’s men to four points from those games.
While talks appear to be at something of a stalemate, the report does suggest that Rice does want to sign a new contract at the London Stadium.

Although Rice is reportedly keen to stay, West Ham are arguably taking a risk not meeting his demands. For a club of their size, his requests are not particularly eye-watering and his performances this season suggest that he is already well worth the money. In fact, they will end up paying him more money than the amount that he is asking for in the weeks that he starts a top flight game.
And the fact that Rice wants to remain with the Irons could potentially make the situation all the more frustrating if they are ultimately unable to agree fresh terms. West Ham have a golden opportunity to bring an end to this situation before it becomes a full-blown saga, and messing it up will unquestionably anger a lot of supporters.
