West Ham United are reportedly not prepared to improve upon their latest offer for Declan Rice, who has recently turned down a bid from the club.

According to a report from The Telegraph, West Ham have reached out to Declan Rice with what they consider to be their final contract offer – but remain optimistic that the situation will reach a positive resolution.

Rice’s future has been a key talking point at the London Stadium in recent weeks. Although his potential has been no secret for a while now, his last three performances have highlighted just how special a talent he is.

He now has to be considered one of the most important players in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad, and he is keen to get a contract agreed that reflects that status. Unfortunately for nervous West Ham fans, an agreement is still yet to be reached.

The Telegraph reports that Rice is thought to earn £3,000-a-week and has turned down an offer which would see his basic salary start at £15,000-a-week and rise by £5,000-a-week for every 15 Premier League starts he makes, while he would also receive £20,000 per top flight start.

The Telegraph adds that his advisers want a deal that involves fewer add-ons and a more substantial basic salary. But it must be mentioned that the report insists that a new contract is expected to be agreed despite West Ham seemingly making their final offer.

West Ham are in a strong position right now regarding Rice’s future. He could potentially stay on his current contract until 2021, but it would surely be a massive mistake if they decided to not make a further offer if their latest bid is rejected.

Rice is a huge talent and is clearly capable of becoming West Ham’s talisman in future. The Hammers should be willing to go a very long way to convince him to sign fresh terms with the club.
