Aston Villa are reportedly keen on Leicester City defender Christian Fuchs.

According to The Mirror, Aston Villa are interested in bringing Leicester City left back Christian Fuchs to the club during this month’s transfer window.

Villa have snapped up one major signing this month having already brought in Croatian international goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic from Gent.

Villa still need more additions though, and a left back is a top priority given that Neil Taylor is the only recognised left back at Dean Smith’s disposal.

The Mirror now report that Smith has identified Leicester ace Fuchs as a top target this month, and wants to lure him to Villa Park on loan for the rest of the season.

However, Leicester would want Villa to pay his £60,000-a-week wages in full in order to let Fuchs go, and whether Villa could stretch to that amount remains to be seen.

Fuchs, 32, joined Leicester from Schalke in 2015, and helped the Foxes win the Premier League title in his first season at the club, making 32 Premier League appearances.

Fuchs now has more than 100 appearances for Leicester to his name, but has lost his place in the first team to Ben Chilwell, meaning he could move on this month.

Villa now hope to take him on loan, and with Smith driving the interest in him, the Villa boss will be keeping his fingers crossed that the Austrian does sign on the dotted line.
