Queens Park Rangers winger David Wheeler has confirmed he is excited to be working under new boss Steve McClaren.

The 27-year-old signed from Exeter City in 2017 and has only gone on to make nine appearances for the Hoops so far, after an ankle injury cut short his season. However, Wheeler has spoken of his respect for McClaren and admits he is looking forward to working alongside such an astute tactician.

The former Grecians hitman notched 20 goals in his final campaign for Exeter and QPR fans will be hopeful that an injury-free campaign will see Wheeler begin to notch more frequently in west London.

A regular at Rangers’ training ground, Wheeler has declared himself fully fit but intends to take a cautious approach over pre-season and it will be interesting to see if he can rediscover his best form in the months ahead.
