According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers assistant boss David Weir has recommended a move for striker James Vaughan – and Birmingham City are open to a deal.
The Gers have added five new signings already this summer, with Clint Hill the latest player to arrive in what has already been and promises to be a busy summer for Mark Warburton’s men.
Despite Martyn Waghorn and Kenny Miller finding the net regularly last season, manager Warburton may still want to bring in some attacking talent as Rangers look to challenge Celtic in the top flight – and they seem to have a new target in mind.
The Scottish Sun report that Rangers are keen on Birmingham City’s James Vaughan, who has been recommended to Warburton by his assistant boss David Weir.
Weir played alongside Vaughan at Everton during the 2000’s, and whilst the striker burst onto the scene at Goodison Park, his career has fallen away due to some injury problems.
Now with Birmingham City having arrived from Huddersfield Town, Vaughan failed to score for the Blues in 16 appearances, and now it seems they’re open to letting him go.
The Scottish Sun report that Birmingham are ready to do a deal with Rangers if they really do want to land Vaughan this summer, with City boss Gary Rowett open to a transfer.
It’s believed a modest fee or even a free transfer could land Vaughan and offer him an Ibrox reunion with Weir – whilst handing Warburton another goal threat in the final third.
