David Unsworth is in temporary charge at Everton, and seems to be a serious contender to get the Toffees job permanently.

Unsworth is in temporary charge of the Premier League side after Ronald Koeman’s unsurprising departure on Monday in the wake of their heavy home defeat to Arsenal at the weekend.
The 44-year-old appears to be an extremely popular candidate for the role, having been under-23 manager since 2014 and helping a number of exciting academy prospects push for a first-team role at Goodison Park.
And the Mail reported in the wake of their spirited 2-1 Carabao Cup defeat away at Chelsea on Wednesday night that Unsworth now seems to be a genuine contender to become Koeman’s permanent successor, as he is now set for talks with the board on Friday about a permanent role.
The Mail does not suggest whether Unsworth is the only manager set for talks with the board at this stage, but it is certainly an encouraging sign for the former Everton defender.
He clearly got a reaction out of his players at Stamford Bridge, and perhaps the board feel that he may be the man to inspire the team to get themselves out of the trouble that they currently find themselves in the top flight.
