Brighton’s David Stockdale is reportedly set to snub Leeds and West Ham to sign a new contract.
Brighton’s David Stockdale
According to the Daily Mirror, Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper David Stockdale is set to snub interest from Leeds United and West Ham United in order to sign a new contract.
Stockdale, 31, joined Brighton from Fulham in 2014, and he has been a vital player for the Seagulls this season with 43 league appearances and 20 clean sheets to his name.
The former York City man has helped Brighton secure promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history, with a number of important displays over the course of the season.
However, Stockdale’s contract expires this summer, meaning that whilst he played such a key part in Brighton’s success, he could be walking away on a free transfer before the start of next season.

Now, The Mirror report that Leeds United and West Ham United had been hoping to land Stockdale on a free transfer, but the goalkeeper is now set to commit his future to Brighton.
It’s stated that Stockdale will now pen a two-year deal with Brighton, meaning he will return to the Premier League as Chris Hughton’s first-choice goalkeeper next season.

The report claims that West Ham had hoped to land Stockdale as their first-choice stopper, given that manager Slaven Bilic hasn’t been able to settle on either Adrian or Darren Randolph as his first-choice stopper this season.
Meanwhile, Leeds – Stockdale’s hometown club and the team he grew up supporting – were also believed to be keen, but Stockdale is seemingly snubbing a dream move to Elland Road in favour of Premier League football with Brighton.
