
Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho was sacked partly due to his relationship with the fans, David Ornstein reports in the Athletic.
Spurs apparently saw Mourinho as the man to get them back into the Champions League, but he has been dismissed with the club well off the top four pace.
Tottenham’s board had also reportedly become fed up with his criticism of players in public.
The Spurs boss has repeatedly refused to take the blame for their failings this season, instead preferring to pin it on his squad.
When Mourinho took over at Tottenham he spoke about how much quality was in the team, but seemed to doubt his own comments as time advanced.

Tottenham are now on the hunt for a new manager, with plenty of options reportedly in the hunt.
Tottenham’s next game comes against Southampton, before they take on Manchester City in the League Cup final on Sunday.
