Moyes has been out of work since leaving West Ham United at the end of the 2017/18 season and was also linked with the Stoke City vacancy prior to Jones’ appointment in January.

The former West Ham United manager David Moyes will be high on Stoke City’s shortlist when the Potters sack Nathan Jones, according to The Sunday Mirror (September 29, page 73).
Moyes has been out of work since leaving West Ham at the end of the 2017/18 season and was also linked with the Stoke vacancy prior to Jones’ appointment in January.
But the job could finally be his with the Potters hierarchy sifting through potential candidates to replace the Welshman, according to The Sunday Mirror.
The newspaper claims Jones is pencilled in to take pre-match media duties ahead of Tuesday’s visit of fellow Championship strugglers Huddersfield Town.
But that is described as being ‘little more than a diplomatic exercise’.
Moyes enjoyed a successful 11-year reign as Everton manager, before contrasting spells at Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham. The Scot last managed in England’s second-tier with Preston North End at the start of his career.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton is, however, Stoke’s number one target, according to The Sunday Mirror‘s sister paper, The Sunday People (September 29, page 57).
