David Moyes is reportedly hoping to make a couple of additions to his West Ham United backline during the summer.

The Hammers go into the final four games of the season not quite out of the woods in terms of the Premier League relegation battle, but they do have some significant daylight between themselves and the bottom three with Southampton six points back.

While the Irons hierarchy must not get complacent, the club would be forgiven for putting one eye on the summer window to give them the best chance of making the kind of signings that will ensure that they are not in the same position this time next year.
And according to Football London, Moyes wants to add at least two more defenders to his ranks, which is perhaps no surprise at all given that the Hammers boast the second worst defensive record in the Premier League.
It is also unsurprising given that transfermarkt show that both Patrice Evra and James Collins are out of contract. Football London does not suggest however, whether the plans confirm that the pair are on the way out in the next few months or not, or even whether a new left-back is one of those Moyes wants to sign.

However, the report does state that the plans could signal a change in position for Declan Rice to ensure that his development is not stifled, with the 19-year-old potentially being considered for a push into the midfield, where he has played on a couple of occasions already.
While there are the younger players in the mix, it makes sense to freshen up the options further with Evra, Collins and Pablo Zabaleta boasting a combined age of 103, with the latter the youngest at 33.
