David Moyes is set to be named the new West Ham United boss and has a former Iron lined up as his number two.
The Sun reports that former Everton boss Moyes is the heavy favourite to replace Slaven Bilic, who was sacked on Monday with the Irons in the Premier League relegation zone.
Some Hammers supporters may be pessimistic about Moyes’s potential appointment following his recent failings at Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Sunderland.
It appears as though the Scotsman will try to build an immediate connection with the West Ham fanbase by naming their former defender Pearce as his assistant.
Pearce played 50 times for West Ham between 1999 and 2001, and has been out of coaching since being sacked by another of his old clubs – Nottingham Forest in February 2015.
The Sun adds that Alan Irvine and goalkeeping coach Chris Wood will also be part of Moyes’s coaching team after West Ham’s owners failed to lure Carlo Ancelotti to the club.
