According to a report in the Daily Express, West Ham United boss David Moyes is urging the board to go after British players this month.

West Ham have been linked with the likes of Joao Mario and William Carvalho in recent weeks, but neither of the pair have any Premier League experience.

And Moyes is said to be wanting to bring in tried and tested players, as he looks to improve West Ham’s squad.

Moyes is now encouraging West Ham’s board to bring in British players, with the Scottish boss keen to see either Stoke City’s Joe Allen or Newcastle United’s Jonjo Shelvey brought to the London Stadium.

Shelvey and Allen have both featured regularly for their sides this term, but Moyes feels that West Ham could have a chance at signing them both.

Whether Newcastle or Stoke would be willing to strengthen a relegation rival remains to be seen, but Moyes wants to test the water by making a bid.
