Gregory van der Wiel and Emmanuel Emenike were not considered up to scratch by the Sunderland boss.
Reports in Turkey today have suggested that Sunderland have rejected a potential player-swap deal for their loaned out Dutch winger Jeremain Lens from Fenerbahce.
It is reported by Fotomac that Sunderland boss David Moyes has vetoed a potential swap deal involving Lens heading to Fenerbahce permanently and Gregory van der Wiel and Emmanuel Emenike coming in the other direction.

The Sunderland boss decided that the Fenerbahce pair are not up to the standard necessary to be a success in the Premier League. He would much rather any potential buyer paid the £8 million asking price for the player, so he might have funds to pay for genuine targets.
It comes as the Sunderland Echo report that the Dutchman’s father is ready to ask Moyes to ensure his son gets the chance to stay at the Turkish side – as he is enjoying his football in Istanbul.
Fenerbahce’s Emmanuel Emenike
It is no wonder Moyes rejected the swap deal. Van der Wiel comes with baggage and has not performed since heading to Turkey. Meanwhile, Nigerian attacker Emenike failed to perform during his loan spell at West Ham United last season.
It seems it is £8 million or bust for teams wanting Lens at present, as Sunderland look to make some spending money before the end of the month.
