Crystal Palace are said to be close to signing Patrick Van Aanholt from Sunderland.

According to a report in The Sun, Sunderland defender Patrick Van Aanholt has disappointed David Moyes with his recent behaviour.

Van Aanholt has been an integral part of Sunderland’s side this season, and he has managed to score three goals from left-back.

The former Chelsea man has proven to be a valuable attacking weapon for the Black Cats in recent times, but transfer rumours this month appear to have turned his head.

Crystal Palace are said to be eager to sign Van Aanholt, and the defender now reportedly has his eyes on a move to Selhurst Park.

Van Aanholt has enjoyed the best spell of his career under the manager of Sam Allardyce, and apparently fancies a reunion with the former England boss at Palace.

Van Aanholt is said to have told Moyes of his desire to move away, and the Scottish boss has no plans to keep hm on Wearside against his will.

As a result, it is believed that Palace are now close to completing a £12 million deal for Van Aanholt, with Sunderland now apparently looking at other targets.
