It appears that new West Ham boss David Moyes is eyeing a player his predecessor Slaven Bilic wanted – Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.
West Ham manager David Moyes has just over a month to analyse his squad before the January transfer window allows him to shape the team in his own image.
But it appears that Moyes already has a few plans in place for the New Year. The Mail reports that the newly appointed Scot is eyeing up a deal with Premier League rivals Liverpool.
The report states that he wants a new striker in January and Daniel Sturridge has emerged as a potential target. The Hammers have been linked with the England international striker in the past, Moyes’ predecessor Slaven Bilic telling Sky Sports in April that Sturridge was on their radar.
And while the former Chelsea ace started Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday, that was only the fifth time he has been included in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI for a Premier League game this season.
The report adds that another Liverpool striker, Danny Ings, is also in contention for a mid-season move to the London Stadium. Ings, like Sturridge has struggled with injuries in recent times and has not made a league appearance for The Reds since May 2015.
It is understood that Liverpool will loan the 25-year-old out in January to get him some much needed game time as he aims to get his career back on track following two serious knee injuries.
Liverpool, however, appear unlikely to let both Sturridge and Ings go in January so West Ham may have a decision to make.
