West Ham United and Newcastle United may have used the international break to watch transfer targets.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (no.9) of Serbia celebrates his second goal during the International Friendly match between Nigeria and Serbia at The Hive on March 27, 2018 in Barnet, England.

According to a report from All Nigeria Soccer, West Ham United boss David Moyes was in the stands to watch Nigeria take on Serbia at The Hive on Tuesday night.

The international break has given World Cup-bound teams a chance to prepare for this summer’s major tournament in Russia, and two teams heading to the World Cup faced off on Tuesday.

Nigeria hosted Serbia at Barnet’s The Hive Stadium, but fell to a 2-0 defeat as Aleksandar Mitrovic scored twice to hand Serbia the victory.

The goals continued Mitrovic’s stunning run of form since leaving Newcastle United for a loan move to Fulham on deadline day in January, and his latest brace came in front of Newcastle’s head of recruitment Steve Nickson.

All Nigeria Soccer report that Nickson was in the stands to watch the game, as was West Ham United boss David Moyes ahead of the summer transfer window.

Nickson may have simply been checking up on Mitrovic, and Moyes may have taken in a local game as West Ham prepare to return to Premier League action, but there were plenty of players on show who could be transfer targets this summer.

Nigeria’s Ogenyi Onazi, Chidozie Awaziem, Moses Simon and Odion Ighalo all featured and could fit the bill for Newcastle or West Ham, with Simon and Ighalo offering threats in the final third.

Meanwhile, Serbia’s Filip Kostic or Adem Ljajic would be ambitious creative signings for either team, with Matija Nastasic an option at the back having started in central defence for his country this week.
