According to The Scottish Sun, Wigan Athletic goalkeeper David Marshall would jump at the chance to re-join Celtic this summer.

The Bhoys had wanted to bring back Fraser Forster this summer, but the 32-year-old now looks set to stay at Southampton.

That means Celtic have to look at alternative targets, and the Daily Mail reported earlier this week that Marshall is an option being considered.

Now, it’s believed that a move could more likely than ever with Wigan filing for administration today, with means some players may be on the move.

Marshall is allegedly interested in heading back to Parkhead, meaning Neil Lennon has plenty to consider as he weighs up a new goalkeeper.

Marshall, 35, started his career with Celtic, and made 50 appearances for the club before leaving for Norwich City in 2007.

The Scot has carved out a decent career for himself in England, and has now racked up seven clean sheets in a row for Wigan.

Marshall is a solid, quality goalkeeper who can bring a real veteran presence with Forster and Craig Gordon gone – and Wigan’s financial issues may give Celtic a chance to secure a cut-price move.
