Report: David Beckham wants Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce when Miami join MLS

David Beckham reportedly wants Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce to be the head coach when his Miami franchise join Major League Soccer.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 19th November 2017; page 65), David Beckham is keen to try and bring Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce over to America to take charge of his Miami franchise when they join Major League Soccer.

The team do not have a confirmed name nor do they have a confirmed date that they will join MLS, but it appears that Beckham – who part owns the franchise – is making plans regarding the team itself, including identifying the man he wants to be their manager.

According to The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 19th November 2017; page 65), that person is Villans boss Bruce, who Beckham played alongside during their time together at Manchester United during the 1990s.

It is not clear how Bruce would feel about the chance to make a move to MLS, but there is no question that he is doing a very good job with Villa right now and would be forgiven for having absolutely no plans regarding leaving the club.

After a slow start to the season, Villa have bounced back and following their victory away at Queens Park Rangers – which is undoubtedly a hugely impressive result given that Rangers have beaten Wolves and Sheffield United at Loftus Road this season – they now sit fifth in the Championship and must certainly be considered to be in the promotion race this season.

And if they continue to progress over the coming years, it would be no surprise if Bruce has absolutely no desire to consider other offers by the time that Miami are in a position to make an approach.
