Celtic are reportedly bringing Darren O’Dea back to Parkhead.
According to The Scottish Sun, Darren O’Dea is in talks with Celtic about a return to the club, where he would join Neil Lennon’s coaching staff.
O’Dea, 32, has endured a strange 2019, as he joined East Kilbride whilst also taking on a coaching role at Motherwell as he looks beyond his playing days.
The former defender is already on the move again, as he’s set to trade those two positions for one role at Celtic, potentially joining them as a reserve coach.
That would be a reunion with Neil Lennon at Parkhead, as O’Dea both played with and for Lennon at Celtic before leaving the club in 2012.
The Irishman has since had spells with Toronto, Metalurh Donetsk, Blackpool, Mumbai City, Dundee and East Kilbride, enduring a nomadic career as a player.
O’Dea will now be able to start his coaching career full-time, joining fellow former Celtic defender Stephen McManus in coaching the Bhoys youngsters.
Talks are ongoing about O’Dea taking over from Damien Duff, as he was promoted from reserve coach to a first-team coach this past summer.
O’Dea appears to be a big fan of Lennon, telling the Daily Record that he has full confidence in Lennon to be a success in his second spell as Celtic boss – and he may now be able to help him with that goal.
