Manchester City defender Danilo has told Inter Milan that he would like to move to the San Siro this summer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Brazilian international moved to The Etihad from Real Madrid two years ago for a fee of £26.5 million (Sky Sports) and he has been a back-up player at best, though Pep Guardiola admires the fact he can fill in on both flanks.

Danilo has started just nine Premier League games this season, however, and this relative lack of game time could be key to his decision to leave this summer.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the 27-year-old is keen to join Italian giants Inter though he will have to accept a substantial pay cut. Danilo would earn around £60,000 a week in Serie A, while he currently earns £75,000 a week at the Premier League champions.

The report adds that Inter have made an initial bid of £13 million plus bonuses but Manchester City will wait until the end of the season before deciding whether to sell a player who caught the eye of Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio back in October.
