Tottenham Hotspur are interested in appointing Luis Enrique as their new manager despite Daniel Levy’s doubts about him.
That is according to a new report from The Telegraph, who claim that Levy has ‘expressed reservations’ about Enrique.
The Spaniard’s taco experience in the Premier League is seemingly a big concern for Levy.
If you look at Tottenham’s appointments since Juande Ramos, they have all worked in the Premier League before joining Spurs.
Harry Redknapp, Andre Villas-Boas, Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte; all of them have been Premier League managers before heading to Tottenham.
Enrique, much like fellow Spaniard Ramos, doesn’t have that prior experience to call on.
Tottenham are pressing ahead with their pursuit of Enrique with the Spaniard ‘highly recommended’ to Spurs.
Whether Enrique is actually Tottenham’s top target remains to be seen, but talks are expected very soon.

Luis Enrique has a mixed track record
We can understand the appeal with Enrique, a coach who won a Champions League with Barcelona back in 2015.
Always pushing attractive, tiki taka football, Enrique’s Spain teams were easy on the eye and reached the Euro 2020 semi-finals.
It’s not just the lack of Premier League experience that will concern Levy about Enrique.
The 52-year-old hasn’t managed a club team since leaving Barcelona in 2017.
That’s a long time out of the relentless nature of club football – especially when he could return to a team in a complete mess at Tottenham.
Enrique started out at Barcelona B and earned a 2011 move to Roma, where Enrique was expected to shine.
A mixed record meant Enrique left after a year, and only came back to management in 2013 with Celta Vigo.
Enrique did enough to land the Barcelona job there, eventually winning two league titles with the Catalan giants.
Enrique’s record without the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar is pretty patchy, all things considered.
Tottenham should at least hear what Enrique has to say but maybe Levy’s concerns aren’t so misplaced.
