According to a report from the Daily Telegraph, Daniel Levy is preparing to offer Mauricio Pochettino a new and improved contract, in an attempt to ward off interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentine was handed the reigns at Tottenham way back in May 2014, and he has since gone on to establish himself as one of the continent’s best managers.

Pochettino has managed to transform a somewhat failing group of players into perennial title contenders, and there is a genuine sense emanating from the club that they are on the verge of achieving something very special.

The Lilywhites currently sit in fifth spot in the Premier League table, but they are only four points adrift of second placed Manchester United.

They are also in a great position in their Champions League tie with Juventus, having drawn the first leg 2-2 in Turin, and it could be argued that they are actually favourites to progress through to the quarter-finals of the competition.

And as Spurs keep making progress, rumours surrounding Pochettino’s future continue to gather momentum.

Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy looks on during the Barclays Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Everton at White Hart Lane on August 29, 2015 in London, England.

The Daily Telegraph claim that the north London outfit’s hierarchy are determined to tie the Argentine down to a new long-term deal.

He is already under contract with Tottenham until 2021, but Levy and co obviously want to reward the 45-year-old even further still, in the hope that he is not tempted to jump ship in the summer.
