Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has accepted that he may have to lower his demands for Manchester United and Chelsea target Toby Alderweireld, according to The Daily Star.

It has been reported that Chelsea and United are interested in signing Alderweireld from Premier League rivals Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

Spurs are reportedly demanding £60 million as transfer fee for the Belgium international, but club chairman Levy is claimed to have accepted that he may have to drop the price of the 29-year-old defender.

Departure likely?

Alderweireld is one of the best defenders in Europe, but the Belgian struggled to play regularly for Tottenham last season.

True, the 29-year-old has had injury issues, but even when he was fully fit, the former Ajax star failed to play regularly.

With Davinson Sanchez having done well for Tottenham last season, one can understand why the North London ought are reportedly open to selling Alderweireld for a high price.

Tottenham will be aiming to challenge for the Premier League title this season, as well as progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
