Australian outlet SBS claim that Melbourne City starlet Daniel Arzani opted to reject a move to Tottenham Hotspur in order to join Manchester City, where he is expected to then join Celtic on loan.

The 19-year-old is set to join City from feeder club Melbourne, in a similar move to Aaron Mooy’s move to City from Australia before he joined Huddersfield Town.

Winger Arzani is expected to sign with City permanently and is said to be travelling to England to pen a deal with Pep Guardiola’s side, before joining The Hoops on a loan deal that will last until the summer of 2020.

City have a strong relationship with Celtic, after loaning Patrick Roberts to the club for two-and-a-half years while Jason Denayer has also been loaned to the Scottish champions in the past.

However, City faced a fight to land the Australia World Cup star, with Tottenham making an offer for the teenage attacker which has since been snubbed by the Iranian-born wonderkid.

Arzani also had offers from German outfit Dusseldorf and French club Stade Reims, but has opted to pursue a project that seems him join City before chancing his arm in Scottish football with Brendan Rodgers’ side.
