Dan Crowley is starting to live up to his potential at Willem II.

Many English talents over the years have fallen by the wayside, and for some time, it looked like Dan Crowley would be added to that particular list.

Lured away from the Aston Villa academy in 2014, Crowley joined Arsenal as one of the country’s top young talents, with many expecting him to become a star.

However, the midfielder struggled to make the break through in North London, and failed to make a single first-team appearance for the Gunners, whilst he was also loaned out to Barnsley, Oxford United and GO Ahead Eagles before being sold to Willem II in 2017.

Having been loaned out to Cambuur earlier this year, Crowley is now thriving in the Netherlands, as he has notched two goals and four assists in 12 Eredivisie games this season, as he finally starts to fulfil his potential.

Crowley is just 21 and still has his best years ahead of him, with a return to the United Kingdom potentially in his future – and Celtic should at least be keeping tabs on the midfielder.

The Telegraph report that Crowley’s family support Celtic, and his ties to the Bhoys mean a move would surely be appealing if it was offered, especially with Brendan Rodgers potentially in the market for another midfielder.

Crowley’s technical ability makes him ideal to play under a manager like Rodgers, and if he can keep up this kind of form in the Netherlands, he should be a top choice to add into the Celtic midfield alongside the likes of Ryan Christie, Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor.

Signing a player purely off the back of his family supporting the club would be absurd, but in Crowley’s case, he genuinely has bags of talent that was left untapped at Arsenal, and as he begins to thrive at club level, Rodgers should have his eyes on a promising young midfielder who could become a star in Glasgow after establishing himself at Willem.
