According to the Telegraph, a new contract is set to be offered to Miguel Almiron at Newcastle as Premier League clubs circle.
Newcastle aim to tie Almiron down
Well, the Paraguay international has burst into life this season, despite the fact Eddie Howe was thinking about selling his No.24 over the summer – that is according to the Telegraph.
Almiron has scored six goals in 12 Premier League appearances so far this term, more than the likes of Mohamed Salah, Gabriel Jesus and Heung-min Son.
The Telegraph believe some Premier League sides are keen to sign Almiron, who will have just 12 months remaining on his contract at the end of the current campaign.
Newcastle now consider the 28-year-old as one of their most vital players, and are set to reflect his new status with a pay rise as well as a two-year extension, which will keep him on Tyneside until the age of 32 if he signs.

As things stand, Almiron currently earns £74,000-a-week at St James’ Park.
It comes after Callum Wilson was handed a new contract, with Dan Ashworth – Director of Football at Newcastle – keen to reward key players with improved deals, while also maintaining a consistent wage structure.
Newcastle should wait before offering Almiron a new deal
At the risk of sounding like a pessimistic doom-monger, we believe Newcastle and Eddie Howe should wait and see if Almiron can maintain his form before offering him a new contract.
Despite his stunning October – in which he scored five of his six goals this season – the Paraguayan could just be experiencing a freak purple patch, which is a fair comment based on his previous numbers.
Almiron scored just one goal in 30 Premier League appearances last season, and has only ever netted 15 goals in 122 Premier League outings since joining from Atlanta in 2019.
Of course, if he can maintain his current form, then he absolutely deserves a new contract and a pay rise.
However, Newcastle must not be reactive due to interest in Almiron from other Premier League sides, and need to be patient.
