According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are close to tying up a deal to sign Benfica striker Dalcio on a season-long loan deal – but a move for Vitoria Setubal defender Fabio Cardoso is being complicated.

The Gers look set to be busy in the transfer market this summer after finishing third in the Scottish Premiershp table this season, with new manager Pedro Caixinha needing reinforcements to chase down league champions Celtic.

Caixinha, who saw his side finish 39 points behind Celtic in the table, will want to boost a number of positions in his squad, and he appears to be on the verge of signing a new striker.

The Scottish Sun report that a deal for Benfica striker Dalcio is on the verge of completion, with the youngster set to pen a season-long loan deal at Ibrox.

With question marks over the long-term futures of Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner, another striker was always set to be on Caixinha’s wishlist, with Dalcio now looking poised to join the Gers.

Dalcio, 21, who represents the Portugal Under-21’s, joined Benfica in 2015 after making 16 appearances for Belenenses, and he has scored twice for Benfica’s B team in 36 appearances.

Whilst Dalcio is edging towards a loan move to Ibrox, the report adds that a deal for Fabio Cardoso is being somewhat complicated given that Benfica still own rights to the Vitoria Setubal defender, and that Wolverhampton Wanderers could enter the race for his signature.

It’s claimed that Rangers remain in talks over a deal to sign the 23-year-old centre back, and whilst Caixinha hopes to add him to his squad, the Gers have plenty of work to do on a deal to bring the Portuguese defender to Glasgow.
