According to Sky Sports, Blackpool defender Curtis Tilt has submitted a transfer request to push through a move to Ipswich Town, with a move to Rangers seemingly off the table.

Tilt, 26, spent his entire career in non-league football with Halesowen Town, Hednesford Town, Telford United, Wrexham and Forest Green Rovers before heading to League One side Blackpool last summer.

The centre back became a key player under Gary Bowyer last season, playing 45 games in all competitions, and his performances at Bloomfield Road have attracted major interest.

The Mirror recently reported that Ipswich Town and Rangers were going head-to-head for Tilt’s signature, with the Seasiders demanding a fee in the region of £1million for their star defender.

Now, Sky Sports claim that Tilt has submitted a transfer request, and is attempting to force through a move to Ipswich, meaning he isn’t expected to join Rangers any time soon.

It’s stated that Ipswich have offered £700,000 for Tilt, but Blackpool have yet to respond to their offer, with the Tractor Boys keen to get him on board before this weekend’s Championship opener.

Rangers turned to Tilt when they couldn’t sign Jake Cooper from Millwall, and may well have still been interested given Steven Gerrard’s interest in a left-footed centre back.

Kean Bryan’s move to Ibrox fell through, and Tilt could have been an alternative given Rangers’ recent interest, but Ipswich now appear to be closing in on his signature.
